In Memory

Sue Ledesma (Freng)

Life time Tehachapi resident, Susan Ledesma Freng, passed away Jan. 3, 2015, ending her six year battle with cancer. Sue was born in Bakersfield, March 30, 1952 to parents Refugio and Maria Ledesma. She grew up with her nine siblings living in the small railroad towns in and around the Tehachapi Mountains, attending local schools and graduating from Tehachapi High School in 1970.

Sue was a dedicated member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. She served as a Catholic Daughter for many years and was honored to be chosen as the organizations President. She was also a part of the Guadalupe Society and sang in the choir. Sue was always the first to volunteer to help someone in need or do a favor for a friend. It is often said she would have given her last dime or the shoes off her feet to someone in need.

Sue was an avid sports fan, her favorite players being her son, Michael, and more recently her grandsons, Nic and Noah, and the many “adopted” grandsons she had. She could be found most days from March to June at a baseball field watching and cheering on her boys. She spent her fall weekends in the bleachers of the TYF Fields and THS Warriors stands. She rarely missed any game her boys were playing in.

Susan is survived by her mother, Maria Ledesma, her son, Michael Ledesma, daughter in law, Tiffany, grandsons, Nicolas and Noah, husband Tom Freng, her five sisters and one brother and their extended families, and countless friends who loved and cherished her and will miss her dearly.

I had the pleasure to reaquaint with Sue at a few of the last home Warrior football games I attended.  We just stood and talked a little about our families.  She was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments!  It is amazing how just standing around in a relaxed setting can open up a person to talk about nothing and everything.  I am vey happy I had the chance to talk woth Sue again at this stage of our lives.
